As a young child, we look up to parents and think they hung the moon. Parents are brilliant and can do anything and everything. Somewhere along the line comes the transition phase when parents become somewhat human and occasionally are wrong, followed soon by "parents are so dumb"!
Usually some time after college and around marriage and the first child you might agree with the adage, "the older I get the smarter my parents were". Then there's that fine balance where you feel almost on equal levels of intelligence.
I'm currently in that awkward transition phase on the other side of that where I'm beginning to realize that my "kids" have surpassed me and I'm relying on them more and more for answers to difficult questions and problems. I have them on experience, just not technologically and mechanically.
I'm fine with that. Just pass me a grandkid and point me to a rockin' chair!
