Our neighbors are in the process of selling their house. Every time they have potential buyers doing a walk-through they bring their three dogs to our house so the dogs won't disturb them. Each time the dogs return home they frantically run throughout the house and property, sniffing every spot the visitors have been in. I have no idea what could be going through their minds, but I know they have sensed their presence and know something is different.
I am in NO WAY comparing my wife to a dog so no one go there, but I laugh at the similarity when she returns home from being away for a while. Without saying what she is doing, I observe her as she goes around the house taking in all that I have done, or not done, while she has been away. She picks up, straightens up, and puts things back the way she wants it as she finds anything out of sorts.
We should do that with our spiritual lives. We need to take inventory of what belongs and sniff out where things have been that do not belong. The things that are out of place should be returned to the proper place or order. Straighten out all the mess, clean up the stains, and make it right. Put your house in order!
