Forging Friendships

I was blessed to spend the weekend with a great bunch of men. I deepened my relationship with some that I already knew and I forged new friendships with others. As expected, it was an awesome weekend together, in spite of the power and water going out on Saturday due to a county-wide electrical outage that lasted all day (no running water because the pumps were electric).

It’s great to be associated with a group of men that set aside manly egos and open up to each other. We laughed, joked, and prayed together, and had a great time. There were even a few fish caught… with pictures to prove it! I don’t know if bears got into our lodge at night or not, but it sounded like it. No one owned up to snoring. Even with that, we slept well, ate well, and came away refreshed and renewed. But, as always, it’s great to be back in the comfort of my own home.

I say this often, but it’s great for men to get away together and fellowship. It helps us to be better husbands, fathers, and brothers to our families. God calls us to be godly men and to sharpen one another. He holds us accountable and expects us to love, nourish, and care for our families. We can learn from one another and lift each other up in prayer and support. Forge long, lasting friendships with other men of faith!

2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT) - “Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.”
