My daughter just sent me a video of my four year old granddaughter saying “I love you, Granddaddy!” Yesterday, I watched a video on Facebook of my 11 year old granddaughter practicing piano for her recital. They are all growing up so fast… too fast… without me! Technology today is so awesome. We can talk to them on our cellphones, watch videos of them, and even Facetime with them and talk to them “live” as if we were in the room with them. But there is nothing like actually being there in the flesh.
Going to church and reading your Bible are all great things as well. You can see God and experience him in those settings and gain a lot from that. But there is nothing that compares with “face to face” communion with God through prayer and one on one time with him as you seek him through prayer and devotion time. Find a quiet place each day and be still in his presence. Listen for his voice and talk (pray) to him and experience the joy that comes from getting to know your Lord and Savior on a personal level.
You only truly get to know someone by spending time with them. God knows you intimately, but how well do you know him. Spend time with him and learn all you can about the Creator of the universe, the one who formed you and made you and loves you beyond all you could ever imagine. Just as my heart longs to be with my grandkids, I need to long to spend time with my Lord. Join me in seeking him more and more each day!
John 8:12 (NLT) - Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
