Bridge Out!

Have you ever been driving down a highway and seen one of those warning signs? I have… and I guarantee you that one got my attention! Did it get yours? Or did you ignore it and keep speeding down the highway? If you’re reading this blog, I’m pretty sure that you heeded the warning. How about the dangerous curve signs? Those are important to take note of as well. They are designed to prepare you for the danger that lies ahead. But it’s only a danger if you don’t slow down and approach it with the proper speed and turn in the right direction.

We are pretty good at following tangible directions that we can see and understand. If an oncoming car flashes its lights at you, that is a signal that a police car is ahead and set up with its radar. You will heed the warning and slow down if you are speeding. Our doctors will give us warnings about our health when our blood pressure or cholesterol levels go awry, but we don’t always heed those warnings. Those aren’t as immediate and apparent to us. We often ignore them or put them off to another day or, worse yet, wait until disaster strikes us to take action (if it’s not too late).

God, through his Word, gives us plenty of warning signs as well. He teaches us what to avoid and shows us what pleases him. He lets us know what brings us blessings and what brings us curses. Way too often, we ignore God’s warnings and do things our way. We continue to sin and rebel because our consequences are not always apparent or immediate. We know about God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness, so we take that for granted and use them as an excuse to go on sinning.

I don’t believe that is always our conscious intention, but it calls for repentance and confession. Heed the warnings in God’s word and follow him with joy and thanksgiving. Serve him unconditionally and without compromise. There are an abundance of blessings ahead as you do!

Deuteronomy 30:10 (NLT) - “The LORD your God will delight in you if you obey his voice and keep the commands and decrees written in this Book of Instruction, and if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.”

Aaaaah!
