The Great Outdoors

Getting away from the the rush of work and traffic is always great. The pace of life is so rapid and it’s necessary to take time to slow down and breathe for a couple of days. I’m having a wonderful weekend with some friends and we are enjoying our time together with no agenda.

I wonder how much better it would be if we took it a step further and left our cell phones behind. I feel the obligation to get my daily blog out, check my emails, and, most importantly, keep in contact with my wife. We’re also at a crowded and popular campsite, surrounded by people with their modern amenities, so we’re not exactly connected with nature.

It’s a wonderful time with awesome friends, but I’m just thinking how much nicer a technology-free trip could be. I’ll have to try that someday!

I know God would love to have our undivided and distraction-free attention each day to share his heart and his love with us. Find a place to get away and spend time with him. It could be a prayer closet, your private office, or even the great outdoors!

1 Peter 1:13 (TPT) - “So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you.”
