Community

During times of crises, you tend to hear more about the sensational stories, like when people fight over the last available roll of toilet paper on the shelf. Believe it or not, those are probably more rare than the events that I have witnessed during this “Covid-19 Pandemic“.

For example, this morning my wife went out early to stand in line before one of our local stores opened, in hopes of purchasing some items we need. She called and asked for me to bring her a heavier coat because of the colder weather. When I arrived, she introduced me to her new friend, a very nice lady that she met in line there. People were actually smiling and laughing, in spite of the circumstances.

I overheard people sharing tips and information with each other and stories of others sharing their items with those who could not get them. People are going out of their way to take care of each other. That is being community-minded. It’s too bad that doesn’t make the news cycle very often. Let’s work together and be a community!

Acts 2:46-47 (NLT) - “They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity — all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”
