What Day Is It?

Between working from home, online church services, and being quarantined, it’s getting hard to tell what day of the week is. There isn’t much familiarity to gain perspective from. Sometimes it feels like we’re living in a future post-apocalyptic society where everyone is hunkered down in their fallout shelters and can only communicate through video conversations.

Today, we got out, picked up food at a drive through restaurant, and met friends in a parking lot. We backed our trucks up and had a tailgate party, keeping our required social distance spacing. It was so nice meeting our friends face to face, even if we couldn’t exchange hugs and handshakes. Just to laugh and talk in person was priceless.

Isolation gives us a whole new perspective on one of the basic needs of fellowship that we all share. Certainly, it’s good to have some occasional alone time, but we’re all overdosing on it right now. We’ve been discussing what an incredibly joyous celebration we’ll have on the first Sunday after the social distance requirements are lifted. Maybe by then, I’ll know what day of the week it is!

2 Timothy 1:4 (NLT) - “I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.”
