Maintenance

Maintenance, in its simplest form, is maintaining the status quo, or keeping things in the current condition or state. We maintain our bodies, our homes, our yards, and especially our cars. We perform preventative maintenance on things with the intention of preventing them from breaking down on us.

It takes a lot of hard work and consistency just to keep everything at a normal level. To improve requires extra time and effort. If it’s important, then it’s well worth it. As things become routine in our daily activity, they become automatic and come easily and with little effort.

We maintain our spiritual lives in the same manner. We need to work our prayer and devotional time into our daily routine so that it is consistent and automatic. We should always work to improve and grow. Never be content with the status quo. Be prepared for every eventuality!

2 Timothy 4:2 (NLT) - “Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.”
