This Feels Different

We’re packing our clothes and some of the things we brought with us and loading up the truck, but we’re leaving a lot behind at the lake house. This feels different. We’re heading down the road a couple of hours, to my home town, for a visit with family and friends.

This weekend, we’ll return to California, our home since 1992. None of our children were born there, but they all grew up there and eventually set out on their own from there. Our nest is empty and our California home is being depleted of its furnishings as they make their way to Arkansas. So, this trip today feels different.

When we pull away from the lake house, we know we’ll be returning soon to this new home, just as we’ve done so many times in the past with all our governmental job moves. Only this time, it’s by our choice, through much prayer and seeking God’s will. We are excited for this next chapter in our lives and for what lies ahead. This feels different!

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (NLT) - “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.”
