Come Alive!

Have you heard, or ever used, the expression, “You’re dead to me?” The other person is still living, but the person saying that has decided that the recipient of that declaration is already dead. It’s not a threat, but simply a pronouncement that one person has been shut out of fellowship with another. Something has happened in that relationship and a “death” has occurred.

For anyone who is not a Christian, and for Christians before salvation, you are dead to God, even though you are living, because of the sins in your life. If you are like me, they are many! Just like everyone else in this world, you obey the devil, who is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us live that way. We follow the desires of our sinful nature, causing us to be subject to God’s anger.

The great news is that God is rich in mercy and loves us so much that, even though we are dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead! It’s by God’s grace that we are saved and made alive again. Jesus paid the penalty for our many sins when He took them upon himself on the cross. Don’t refuse to obey God and live in sin, but run to His open arms today. Come alive!

Ephesians 2:1-5 (NLT) - “Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil - the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved)!
