I love the city I came from and grew up in. It has certainly gone through its ups and downs, but it’s my town. I love the people and the culture. There is good and bad, just like in any place, but by and large mostly good. These are my people and I love getting reacquainted with them.
As I have shared before, I was born and raised in my small town. Two careers took me away right after I graduated college. Over 40 years later I have returned. Many people have come and gone, but some of the families have remained. Even some, like me, have wandered back. There is something to be said for returning to your roots.
My wife and I have always made it a priority to make the most of everywhere we have lived and to pray for that city. Currently, we are in a situation where we have two cities to pray for because we are back and forth between two (about two hours apart). Wherever you are be content and joyful. You are there for a reason! Pray for your city and its elected officials (whether you voted for them or not). Pray for its law enforcement officers. Pray for its churches and schools. Just imagine the changes that will take place if we all pray for our cities!
1 Timothy 2:1 (NLT) - I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
