Today is the 244th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. It was officially formed on 10 November 1775. Since then, tens of thousands of men and women have proudly earned the right to be called Marines. I am one of them and I consider it one of my greatest privileges and accomplishments.
I received my honorable discharge at the rank of Captain approximately 28 years ago as I transitioned into my next form of government service. I still stand proud and tall every time I hear the Marines Hymn. If you call us ex-Marines, we will correct you and say we are former Marines or retired Marines because once a Marine, always a Marine!
Although I am not as lean and not as mean, I will always be a United States Marine. Happy birthday to all my fellow Jarheads. Semper Fidelis!
Colossians 3:17 (NLT) - βAnd whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.β
